How to achieve the Downton Abbey look on your wedding day…

Recently I have met a few brides who have asked me for the ‘Downton Abbey’ look!

‘The Downton look’ requires nautral make-up with very nautral eyes in soft golden-browny hues with the smallest amount of eyeliner and very nude lips.

Downton Abbey wedding lookYour hair will need to be very intricate with big barrel curls on top of your head or a very low sleak bun, either very straight or wavy, you will need to accessorise with a beautiful, sparkly vintage comb. Take a look at my Wedding hair accessories to die for section for some vintage inspired wedding hair accessories.

Dresses of this era were very elegant featuring long, slinky silhouettes with large amounts of intricate lace panelling, opulent velvet and fur trim, coupled with delicate sparkling bead and pearl detail. The Downton Abbey look overall is ultra feminine and truly vintage – think 1920′s Edwardian elegance and grace.

Fashion celebrities also seem to love this ‘in vogue’ vintage look – Kate Moss opted for this look for her wedding to Jamie Hince this summer. Kate looked simply stunning in her sleek John Galliano vintage-style dress with delicate rhinestones which she teamed with Manolo Blahnik shoes.

I really enjoy recreating this ultra-feminine period wedding day look and if you’re thinking about this – do get in touch with me.
